Simplification:  Start with the Why

What is your Why?

Research shows that a strong enough Why keeps us motivated to keep pursuing our unique life goals, even when we’re met with challenges.

At Sojido, we believe that we can have happier, healthier, and more focused lives through the power of simplification.

We believe that by reducing clutter in our physical and mental spaces, and by better organizing our spaces and schedules around our unique life goals, that we clear pathways to higher achievement.

My Why is ____________.

The Belief

Simply having the belief that we can change is a key component to our chances of achieving success with our goals.  Studies show that we can increase our ability to make decisions, and to take control of our lives.

Will you commit to yourself to have this belief in yourself?

And that by applying the right tools, and committing to a daily practice, you can clear clutter from your life so that you can focus only on what’s most important?

We start not by adding more...

but by reducing.

Not by adding complexity...

but by s-i-m-p-l-i-f-y-i-n-g.

We start by reducing clutter and friction in our physical spaces.  By clearing our minds and bodies.

By cutting things out.  By removing barriers and obstacles so we can open up pathways to our success.

By forming positive, healthy habits that empower us, enable our lifestyle and move us closer to our goals.

What are the Main Principles?

 1.  To cut liberally, and add back sparingly.

2.  To respect our spaces and our lives through a daily practice of Sojido.

3.  To use deliberate design to reduce friction between ourselves and our unique life goals.

4.  Mindful organization of spaces.

5.  Personal Empowerment.  Increasing and strengthening our locus of control.  Manifesting this control in our daily spaces, and working outwards from that center to implement greater simplicity and control in all aspects of our lives.

The Tools

We have a wealth of tools at our disposal to help us in our journey to greater simplicity.

Research and academic studies provide many powerful tools, while  others are passed down from time-tested philosophies and ancient practices that still have powerful relevance today.

Some are borrowed from top performers across various fields; still others are completely unique to Sojido.

The 3-Step Approach to Simplification

Whether the goal is clearing out clutter, better organizing our physical spaces, improving our nutrition, losing weight, improving our fitness levels, or taking back control of our daily schedules, the basic approach is the same.

Step 1: First, Reduce

Step 2: Add back only what matters

Step 3: Organize and Execute

The first and key question is:  What should be cut?  Wasn’t isn’t adding any value, or worse, is taking away from our ability to perform?

Be thoughtful and deliberate about what we let into our lives.  Evaluate which efforts and habits, if properly developed, will provide the greatest positive affect on our lives.

Organize our spaces, our actions, and our daily lives around only what serves our unique life goals and purposes.

Commit to daily and weekly action.

What do I need?

The Courage to start.

And to clearly articulate what you want in life.

A Belief that positive change is possible, and that your goal is attainable.

And that you deserve the freedom and space to pursue your unique life purpose.

Daily Commitment and Discipline.

Where can this be applied?

  • In our every day living and working spaces:  Our daily environments, where we do the majority of our living and work, is one of the most immediate and powerful places we can apply Sojido principles.
  • In the kitchen:  For more efficient organization, as well as in supporting nutrition and weight goals.
  • In exercise and fitness goals:  For cutting out what’s not working in home workouts or the gym, and focusing only on what’s getting us the results we’re looking for.
  • In our schedules:  for organizing around only the highest impact activities.
  • In our careers:  for reducing “busy work” activities that aren’t contributing to our success, and clearing time in our schedules to focus on growth.
  • In our minds:  for mental and digital decluterring

And in many other areas...
